Excel Model, the vision of years came to actualization in November/ December 1996 when the visioneers started evening lessons named Excel Model Classes (EMC) at St. Mary Primary School Wukari. This later metamorphosed into Excel Model Secondary School in January. The school commenced her activity 17th January 1997 with admission into JSS1, JSS2 and SSS1.

Almost one hundred percentage of what we do here are not copied from any school because we didn’t have such ahead of us when we started but keep coming up because of our vision. For instance, the school started as day school and later we introduced mini-boarding because people were forced to be renting houses around the school premises here to put their children/wards in the school, hence we brought them together for supervision but allowed them to feed on their own the way they were feeding in their rented places. Later parents with children of ten years or there about kept complaining that we should feed them because they were too junior to cook, hence full boarding system was introduced. The increase in population of the hostel students and the burden of rushing the sick ones to our hospital, sometimes in the night brought about the establishment of the school dispensary and the drilling or sinking of the school borehole to solve the problem of buying water from tanker drivers.

To promote social interaction among the students, they are grouped into four houses with distinct colour banners that engages in several inter house competitions. The houses are School house with yellow banner, Kuvyon house with blue banner, Rafu house with green banner and G.O.D house with red banner.

With divine support from the Almighty God and relentless efforts of the management and cooperation from her staff members, the school is now famed for her excellent performance in moral and academic sanctity in the community of private and public schools in the state and beyond. The school has made an indelible mark in the animal of education which has enhanced greatly the learning in science, arts and commercial subjects.
